In 2025,the memory market has ushered in a round of"price storm",especially the price of DDR4 memory chips has been rising all the way,with an alarming increase.Take the common 16GB DDR4 memory as an example,its price has already broken through the 500 yuan mark,which has more than tripled since the beginning of the year.
Price trend:Since the second half of the year,the memory market has experienced several rounds of price increases.In October,the memory prices of DDR4 and DDR5 were"soaring"again,and the prices of some models directly increased several times.According to media reports,the price of memory chips in Hangzhou has doubled within one month.The products with an original price of more than 200 yuan have now risen to more than 400 yuan,and the memory of 1000 yuan is approaching 2000 yuan.The Changsha market is also"rising",with some products rising by as much as 200%,and online e-commerce platforms are no exception.The growth rate of hot-selling models still exceeds 160%after several months.
The reason behind it:
The AI industry drives demand:With the explosive growth of the AI industry,especially the global cloud computing service providers'demand for memory has risen sharply.AI model training and big data processing rely on high-bandwidth and low-latency memory,which promotes the surge of demand for DDR4/DDR5 in the server market.
Structural adjustment of production capacity:Samsung,Hynix and Micron have shifted a large number of wafer production capacity to HBM and DDR5,resulting in squeezed DDR4 production capacity and tight market supply.
Channel hoarding intensifies the shortage:at the beginning of the year,dealers predicted the rise and began to hoard goods to lock prices,further reducing the circulation in the civil market.Some data centers guarantee supply,and even purchase 80%of the annual consumption at one time,further pushing up prices.
This memory price surge driven by the triple factors of"rising demand,tightening supply and hoarding goods through channels"has not shown any signs of easing in the short term.
